Elevate Aviation is a national non-profit dedicated to introducing students and youth to careers in aviation and aerospace. The Elevate Aviation Learning Centre in Vancouver, in partnership with Harbour Air, is giving students a hands-on look at that world through the Aviation Career Exploration program, known as ACE. Designed for youth ages 11-18, the program introduces students to the wide variety of careers that make aviation possible. From pilots to air traffic controllers, aircraft mechanics to operations staff, ACE connects students directly to career pathways through immersive, industry-aligned learning experiences that spark curiosity and inspire big dreams. 

Last week, a group of fifth graders from Champlain Heights Elementary got to experience this firsthand at the Harbour Air hangar. They explored real aircraft, met members of the maintenance team, and took part in hands-on activities that brought aviation to life. Industry professionals shared stories from their careers, giving students insight into the teamwork, problem-solving, and technical skills needed to keep planes flying safely. Fun challenges and simulations added even more excitement, giving students a taste of the responsibility, precision, and thrill that come with a career in aviation. By the end of the day, the students had not only learned about aviation careers, but they had also experienced a little of the wonder that makes the industry so inspiring. 

ACE goes far beyond the classroom. Students get to see how their own curiosity and skills could shape the future of aviation. They gain an understanding of the many roles that keep aviation moving, whether they are drawn to technical work, operations, or coordinating the movement of planes. The program is full of immersive learning that builds confidence, sparks imagination, and encourages students to dream big. 

Delivered as a week-long, immersive experience, ACE is perfect for schools looking to provide extended field trips that align with curriculum outcomes while exposing students to hands-on aviation learning. The Vancouver program builds on the success of ACE programs in Edmonton and Calgary and adds a focus on sustainable aviation, including electrification and net-zero technologies, preparing students for the future of the industry. 

ACE has officially launched in the Vancouver region, and Harbour Air is proud to partner with local schools and aviation organizations to build meaningful connections between youth and the aviation industry. Schools can book ACE weeks directly with Elevate Aviation, and organizations are welcome to get involved as host partners or guest speakers.
